Epic Epicenter...

So I’m trying my best to avoid doing homework and study for midterms, so here’s a post.

Tonight I went to the Epicenter, which is an awesome live music venue, to see Mute Math (I don’t support or like myspace, but it’s the only site they have right now with their new album info). These guys rocked the place so hard. If you’re a fan of the keytar, and I know all of you are, then you MUST check these guys out. They have so much energy and talent I know they are going to go mainstream, so jump on the boat now and you can be one of those people who are like, “Ya I saw those guys two years ago for $10. And now they’re huge.” And…you won’t look like a complete follower when MTV or some corporate music program picks them up and shoves them down your throat, because they want you to think they are cool (even though they are). Decide for yourself now. Check ‘em out.

Secondly, kudos to epicenter, a truly great idea.Tthe facility serves as a musician’s version of the YMCA or Boys and Girls Club. Everyday after school they open up the place and let kids rent studio time and have band practice and meet other people interested in the same kind of things they are. It’s establishments like this that will prevent us from being overrun by major label hacks like all the pop stars seen on MTV who get a record deal before ever performing. Do not get me started on Ashley Simpson!!! But anyway epicenter provides a great place for music lovers to come and see great shows for cheap. Average ticket price runs about twelve bucks. It’s an awesome all ages forward thinking place, and we need more of them.

Here are a few links as well…

This hands-free headset by Jabra is supper slick and is another step towards making technology functional as well as beautiful.

For all you groggy college students out there here are some tips for getting better sleep.

And heck if you can’t sleep then you might as well check out this trippy image.

A fascinating collection of aerial photos of people’s tiny apartments, it kind of makes you rethink how to see things.

For all you coffee lovers out there (defiantly not me!) here’s one reason not to drink that latte, its just too pretty.

Here’s a very useful site that list all sorts of mixed drink directions.

The iPod frenzy has gone a little too far, even the church is picking up on it.

A very cool and groundbreaking project by the University of Michigan is helping people who have never had access to nighttime lighting ever before get it for the first time. This really deserves a look.
