Oh the Humanity and Links...

A very interesting artist, Daniel Rozin, employs wooden squares to reflect the motion of a subject captured by sensors, thus creating a wooden mirror. The video is really cool to watch.

A Request Granted...

Well Dnordbak has made a request for another post to compliment his most recent posting. In the spirit of brotherhood and good will towards men (hey it is Christmas) I shall beseech you all (“y’all” for my southern viewers) with a blazing links post and any other thoughts that pop up along the way.

Home Alone...

I’m home alone and the NFL has lulled. Why the hell does ESPN have rodeo on? I’m going miss college football. Bowl week is coming and it’s going to be sweet. Enough of that. With this blog I now have a new excuse to exploit the wonders of the internet.

Really! 5 deeds! Yeeeeeehaaaa. I'm gonna sale me some land. Wait a minute 400sq feet. I guess the deeds are for the furniture inside.

I love the title of this one. “Oh well in that case sign me up!”

Ok dude who’s in with me. I need the cash fast. I bet there’s a catch.

Isn’t that Sasha’s house?

Yes masta sir. Would you like me to git sum mo corn bread?

This is a sweet house. But it’s not in an urban location, by any stretch of the imagination.

Check out that pool. You couldn’t be an irate pirate in that pool.

Pish… I don’t want just the house. I what the whole damn community.

Hmmm...

So I’m really enjoying this new medium of expression. Who new I was so gabby? But ya, I’m not tired and I’m exploring the world of Blogs and coming across some fun stuff. Here are some links that I have found to be interesting to say the least.

Jellyfish vs Asia. Woot!

I don’t know if it’s because I take a lot of photos, but I’m pretty good at which are fake or photo. How about you?

Some times I wish I was a little Asian girl. They get some badass stuff.

But can they get you chicks like a bomb sniffing dog can? I think not!

Who needs fighter pilots like Maverick and Goose, we can just grow them instead! This is so awesome and so scary.

Atta Boy Google you show those Microsoft bastards what’s up. (Funny, Google is in the MS Word dictionary)

Ummmmm Yeeeeeaaaaa we’re going need you to stop that.

Who The Hell Is This Guy!

For years now you see his stern glare on t-shirts and on buildings from stenciled on graffiti, but for some reason (I don't know why it took so long) I finally looked him up to figure out who exactly this man was. Thanks wikipedia! I had a few assumptions: I new he was a cohort of Castro, thus he must be pretty hardcore and crazy. I figured he was either a either Cuban or Mexican rebel leader judging by the mega left-wing Latinos people I have seen dawn the t-shirts, as well as, most graffiti artists are not quite what you would call "conservative". I figured to be so iconic he must have died before his prime before any real accomplishments could be made because martyrs make way better iconic symbols than guys that do something and then burn out. You don’t see cool Castro spray-ons do you? What about Abe Lincoln? No because he was too normal and a do-gooder to become a black spray paint logo staring at you as you walk to class or down a street. No you need to be Che Guevara! The icon we know and love. A little history brought to you by Time Magazine.

“…Like so many epics, the story of the obscure Argentine doctor who abandoned his profession and his native land to pursue the emancipation of the poor…”

“…after a guerrilla campaign in which Guevara displayed such outrageous bravery and skill that he was named comandante…”

“…Che the romantic mysteriously leaving the revolution to continue, sick though he might be with asthma, the struggle against oppression and tyranny…”

“His execution in Vallegrande at the age of 39 only enhanced Guevara's mythical stature.”

So the question is…Was he a good or bad guy or both? The thing is I guess it all about how you look at it. He went to Cuba to stick it to “the man”, but ends up helping instate another tyrant. Did he know all along that Castro was a rat bastard or did they both begin the revolution with a pious intent? I don’t get how Che could continue spreading the band-aid of Marxism as the Soviets just prove that the Utopian ideal is simply a dream, as their people starve and the head-honchos get fat? Yes I know the good old US of A has problems too, but that’s not what we’re talking about. So what do you think? Good. Bad. Eh.

A little culture... (as promised)

So I like to smoke the occasional cigar. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm eighteen, it's my right. I figure this is a good place for me to educate you, John Q. Public, in the art of fine Cigars.

"Cigar makers utilize different tobaccos to try to compensate for nature. They continually seek a blend that will achieve consistency and at the same time create some flavor complexity. A good blend uses tobaccos from different geographic zones, varieties, grades and harvests, so that the cigar will be complete and balanced.

Cigars are handmade products, produced by skilled artisans in quantities anywhere from 100 to 300 a day, depending on the size of the cigar and the manufacturing process. The roller takes the leaves and presses them together in his hand; he then places the leaves on a binder leaf -- a flat, somewhat elastic leaf of tobacco. He rolls them together into a "bunch," cuts them to the appropriate length and then places them in the bottom half of the wooden mold. After he puts the upper half of the mold in place, he puts the entire box into a screw press.

Color refers to the shade of the outer wrapper leaf. Today, there are six major color grades in use: Claro claro (light green), Claro (light tan), Colorado Brown (reddish brown), Natural (light brown to brown), Maduro (very dark), and Oscuro (dark black). Natural and Claro are the two most popular wrapper colors. The tobacco for Claro is usually grown under tents. Natural wrapper leafs are sun-grown. The best wrapper leafs are produced in Connecticut, Cameroon, Ecuador, the Honduras, Indonesia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Cuba."

These are the common shapes and sizes that one can purchase:

Petit Corona
Robusto
Torpedo
Corona
Belicoso
Corona Gorda
Lonsdale
Perfecto
Toro
Churchill
Pantella

I have not had the privilege to smoke all these different styles, yet. But I have smoked Coronas, which happen to be the most commonly produced type. Coronas, as well as each other style, do have variations within its respective genus i.e. Toros. There are subcategories that vary in length and ring gauge.

My recommendation for beginners or someone who doesn't like a lot of kick, is to try something thin with a lighter brown wrapper because the lighter the wrapper and thinner the cigar is, the milder the smoke and cigar experience will be. A flavored Chojimar Corona such as vanilla or peach for a flavored treat, or one of my favorites so far, Joya de Nicaragua Celbracion, for a mild real cigar. If you want to be a real man about your smoke then I suggest (at your own rick of blowing $17 on a cigar you might not like that much, I speak from personal experience on this one) then try the Cohiba Extra Vigoroso. It has vigor and o so strong.

James Taylor - October Road
Jay Farrar - Terroir Blues
Windsor for the Derby - We Fight Till Death
Caribou - The Milk of Human Kindness
Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra - Music and Rhythm

The Beginings...

So I created this site becasue it's something easy and entertaining, as well as a way for me to take a break from school. I also hope I will be able to post up photos that I recently take because my webshots is already full and that way I won't have to pull some off. And this is an easier way for you to see what my new photos are. I also want to just post up random links and facts in tribute to the infamous dnordbak.com (R.I.P.) . In addition, I'm going to post music recomendations and bands you should check out, hopefully before they become ubertrendy. So bare with the spelling errors and limited blogging experience.
